Description The Dean of Academics is a senior administrator responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for academic programs, developing and implementing academic policies and procedures, overseeing faculty and staff, and working to ensure the success of students. The Dean works offsite with regular in person meetings with the senior leadership team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Provide leadership and direction for academic department.

Collaborate and coordinate with the Director of Admissions for the handover of admitted students and student files.

Oversee the students’ experience from admittance through to graduation.

Develop and implement academic policies, procedures, and programs.

Oversee the completeness, accuracy, and currency of the University catalog.

Recruit, vet, evaluate, and oversee faculty and their effectiveness.

Develop, oversee, and collaborate with a faculty committee to consider academic programs, student needs, policies, and other academic issues.

Ensure compliance with internal and external standards and requirements (regulatory agencies).

Collaborate with staff regarding budget, finances, and expenditures.

Promote the college’s mission, vision, and values to internal and external stakeholders.

Address student needs, including learning disabilities, unsatisfactory academic progress, and other special circumstances.

Develop and implement a student outcomes assessment program.

Maintain accurate and complete student records in the University’s database system.

Ensure facilities are adequate and instructional resources and equipment are functional and available.

Collaborate with the accreditation liaison through the accreditation process.

Qualifications Required

A master’s degree required; doctorate preferred.

Ability to work effectively with an ethnic, cultural, and socially diverse student population.

Strong organizational, written, oral communication, and human relations skills.

Knowledge of and experience in academic settings.

Excellent time management skills.
