Project Manager It Transformation

The Project Manager on the IT Transformation Team plays a pivotal role in executing strategic IT initiatives across the organization. The Project Manager will partner with the Transformation Manager to translate high-level objectives into detailed project plans, ensuring cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder alignment. The PM's efforts will directly impact how Onward Energy leverages technology - artificial intelligence, data engineering, and analytics - to optimize business processes and decision-making. Reporting to the IT Transformation Manager, you will manage individual workstreams within larger projects. Transformation projects will include managing the IT operational integration of acquired assets, AI/Automation initiatives, data strategy projects and executing on process improvement opportunities. You'll coordinate with internal teams and external consulting partners to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and aligned with our strategic goals. This hands-on position demands strong organizational skills, clear communication, and a passion for continuous improvement. Primary responsibilities include: Assisting in defining project scope, success metrics, ROI, objectives, and deliverables that support business goals and stakeholder requirements. Developing and maintaining detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations. Coordinating cross-functional teams, including back-office teams, operations and external consultants. Leading design requirement definition, coordinating testing and go-live deployments. Tracking project progress, identifying risks and blockers, and escalating issues promptly to the IT Transformation Manager and CIO. Preparing and delivering regular status reports, dashboards, and presentations to stakeholders, including interim summaries for senior leadership. Contributing to PMO process enhancements and documentation, championing best practices across transformation initiatives. Promoting a culture of continuous improvement by recommending process optimizations and efficiencies. The profile to succeed includes: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. 2-4 years experience in project management, with a track record of delivering technology or process optimization focused projects. Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and drive projects forward in a fast-paced setting. Ability to proactively identify and undertake execution-level tasks critical to maintaining project momentum. Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Planner). Ability to manage vendor relationships, licensing, and identify cost-optimization opportunities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Preferred qualifications include: Proven experience managing projects and teams using the Microsoft Teams ecosystem, including MS Planner, MS Project, SharePoint Lists, and Power BI dashboards built on SharePoint data. Hands-on experience leading AI and automation initiatives, with familiarity with Generative AI models (e.g., Azure AI Foundry, OpenAI) and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or Blue Prism. Background in strategy consulting, demonstrating strong analytical capabilities and cross-functional leadership across complex project environments.
