Overview
Sr. Software Engineer - Java (12 month Contract) at Early Warning. This role is primarily focused on developing, documenting, testing, debugging, and maintaining software product applications, applying expertise in software tools, frameworks, and secure software engineering practices. Collaboration with team members is essential to deliver on the team’s backlog. Responsibilities
Participate in the discussion and implementation around complex capabilities. Develop complex features and capabilities to enhance Early Warning core product offerings. Manage source code using Git and review/approve pull requests to maintain code quality. Query platform data using SQL-based databases. Work on complex Java Web Services using Spring Boot. Document complex details and decisions in Confluence. Build automated tests alongside sprint work integrated into the CI/CD pipeline, considering environment variables and providing recommendations. Troubleshoot complex bugs that may arise during development. Support the company’s commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Science Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years of direct experience in Software Engineering or related field. Proficient with Git and Git flow branching model. Spring / Spring Boot framework is required. Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and automated testing. Proficient with SQL and RESTful service design. Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and Kafka. Excellent written and spoken communication. Background and drug screen required. Preferred Qualifications
Additional related education and/or work experience preferred. Experience with SOAP services. Familiarity with data formats like XML, JSON, YAML. NoSQL experience (Redis, HBase, Aerospike, etc.). FinTech experience is highly beneficial. Physical Requirements
Working conditions are a normal office environment. Role is primarily sedentary with extensive computer use. May require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally. Requires visual acuity and dexterity for documents and computer use. Ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.
