Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, Vocational Nursing program, assist with providing oversight and innovative leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating the LVN program and its faculty.

Collaborate with other members of the leadership team on policy making and ensure the College\'s vision, mission, and core values guide decision-making and actions.

Serve as an ambassador for Pacific College, actively promoting collaboration with campus and community partners.

Assist the Director in recruiting, supervising, developing, and directing faculty to ensure curricula are current and consistently delivered in a learning-conducive environment.

Collaborate with the NCLEX Success Coordinator and lead NCLEX success planning and implementation into the VN curriculum.

Assist the Director with supervision and evaluation of assigned staff; interview and participate in selecting employees; train, counsel, and discipline personnel according to policies, ensuring valid licensure and credentials of faculty for BVNPT approval.

Assist with continuing education of faculty including teaching and mentoring on NEO, ATI, testing strategies, assessment, teaching strategies (interactive learning), and other faculty learning needs.

Ensure LVN program operations comply with applicable state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.

Prepare and maintain narrative and statistical reports, records, and files related to assigned activities and personnel; generate documents requested by BVNPT, accreditation, and other governing agencies.

Actively participate in program evaluation and curriculum design and revision.

Promote student success by advising and counseling students; facilitate communication and maintain satisfactory relationships between students and faculty.

Assist the Clinical Coordinator for Nursing Programs in securing clinical placements, communicating with clinical sites, and onboarding students.

Serve as a liaison between admissions and the VN Department in acceptance and compliance of new students.

Serve on committees and chair monthly meetings of the VN nursing faculty in the absence of the Director.

Teach theory (ongoing) and clinical (as needed); fill in for faculty during illness, vacations, etc.

Collaborate with the Leadership Team in faculty scheduling and assignments.

Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Must be available to work evenings and weekends as Vocational nursing classes are conducted during those times.

Must be available to work at Pacific College’s Ontario campus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures related to nursing including BVNPT requirements.

State laws and regulations related to licensure, certification and accreditation.

Principles and practices of administration, supervision and training.

Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Direct the maintenance of a variety of reports and files related to assigned activities.

Skills

Utilize local and national labor market data to identify trends and determine regional healthcare provider needs for a variety of types of providers.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including complex proposals and presentations.

Operate a computer, Microsoft Office, and Windows Operating System.

Qualifications for the Position

A master\'s degree in Nursing; a doctorate degree is preferred.

Three to five years of progressive leadership experience including supervisory experience and prior experience with curriculum, academic programs, and the development and growth of academic initiatives.

Licensed/eligible (unrestricted) as a Registered Nurse in California.
