Cloud Data Engineer

Position available in the Genworth District of Columbia, United States. What You Will Be Doing As a Cloud Data Engineer, your primary responsibility will be assisting with the implementation of Azure native data solutions to support business use cases. You will develop, optimize, and standardize data pipelines and showcase a blend of problem‑solving and innovation to resolve technical challenges. A solid understanding of database concepts, ETL/ELT, and cloud technologies is required. This role involves hands‑on technical work and opportunities to demonstrate development skills.
Participate in design, development, and implementation of solutions for migration of on‑premises data stores to cloud‑based technologies in accordance with the defined cloud data architecture principles/patterns
Provide support for on‑premises and cloud data infrastructure and data movement issues
Collaborate to develop, document, implement, and maintain cloud‑hosted data and analytics services in Azure and/or other cloud technologies, with effective code management via DevOps principles
Implement and maintain data security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry and company standards and regulations
Coordinate with downstream and upstream teams including onshore/offshore vendor teams
Upskill quickly in additional cloud technologies as required by the business
Approach new challenges with respect to different technologies and provide solutions tailored to each technology
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science
Minimum 3 years’ experience in cloud development using Azure or AWS
Solid understanding of design, development, implementation and operationalizing data management projects with cloud and hybrid infrastructure
Proven communication skills to effectively articulate with stakeholders, architects, vendors, and other technical teams
Curiosity to understand the business context behind technical initiatives and deliver accordingly
Experience in databases, data warehouses, data pipelines and ETL/ELT
Understanding of automation and deployment tools such as Azure DevOps/Jenkins/Git
Strong understanding of Agile and development methodologies
Nice to Have
Certification in Azure/AWS/Databricks/Terraform
Experience implementing Data Warehousing projects in Azure/AWS (Data Factory/Synapse/Databricks/Glue/Redshift) and related services
Experience with automation of testing, validation, and deployment of cloud data solutions in Azure/AWS

Compensation The base salary range for this role starts at $73,900 and goes up to $142,700. In addition to base pay, employees may participate in an incentive plan with a target earning opportunity of 7% of base compensation. Final base pay is determined by location, experience, and qualifications to ensure pay equity.
