STS Technical Services is hiring a Principal Communication Systems Engineer in Westminster, Colorado.

Our client is seeking a Principal Communication Systems Engineer with a strong background in systems engineering, experience in space technology, and the ability to serve as the technical point of contact for communication programs. In this position, you will support space architecture concepts, subsystem design, payload design, requirements development, high-level system architecture, CONOPS development, and risk assessment. This role requires coordination across multidiscipline engineering teams, raising program-level issues, and driving complex projects to successful outcomes.

Responsibilities
Evaluate customer and operational needs to define requirements, integrate technical parameters, and ensure compatibility of all interfaces
Collaborate with program management to support project scheduling and coordination
Serve as the primary technical liaison with external customers for baseline discussions
Act as the bridge between program management, engineering, and manufacturing teams to maintain clear communication
Participate in developing system engineering processes for requirements management, flow down, and traceability
Perform risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies
Identify and resolve issues that could impede engineering team progress
Foster a culture of efficiency, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Minimum of 9 years of experience with emphasis on space-based communication payloads
Practical experience with antenna and RF systems
Experience collaborating with product/component developers and vendors
Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills
Proficiency with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama
Ability to define work direction, track milestones, and demonstrate progress on large, open-ended projects
Strong sense of urgency and ability to work effectively under pressure
Exceptional problem-solving skills and analytical abilities to assess and resolve complex technical challenges
Proven ability to work effectively with multifunctional engineering teams
