Overview

The Business Systems Analyst will solicit, understand, and document the business requirements, processes and workflows, developing both written and visual depictions of requirements and process flows. This includes understanding, documenting, and evaluating business processes through interviewing stakeholders. The analyst elicits, gathers, compiles and documents user requirements and translates them into functional requirements for technology solutions to improve processes, increase sustainability, and deliver maximum ROI. Tasks include data analysis, data mapping, and data visualization. They work with programming and architecture staff in designing solutions based on functional requirements, including gap analysis. The analyst must understand the business, functional, and technical aspects of the processes and systems within the portfolio they support, including integration points and impacts to other units/systems. Core Responsibilities

Evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and elicit requirements for change. Conduct interviews and workshops to gather user requirements via various methods (workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflows, use cases, scenarios). Perform data gathering and analysis to develop business requirements and identify priorities and timelines. Conduct data mapping and data analysis; create data mapping and data visualization documents. Prepare business cases defining potential benefits and options for achieving them through new or changed processes, with associated risks. Interpret user requirements into feasible options and communicate back to stakeholders. Deliver precise functional specifications including hierarchy, workflow, business rules, interface definitions, issues, data analysis, and data mapping to clients and development staff. Conduct gap analysis between applications and customer requirements; collaborate with architects and developers to estimate impact. Prepare effort estimations, including costs of upgrades and relevance of vendor packages. Evaluate vendor release notes and assess impacts on current processes; assist with redesign and documentation for enhancements. Perform requirements analysis; document and communicate results. Translate requirements into functional specifications understandable to developers, project teams, and business owners. Participate in the technical design of solutions with programmers and solution architects. Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, feasibility, and standards conformance. Develop standard templates to clearly write requirements specifications. Create process models, diagrams, and charts to guide developers and project teams. Develop and conduct peer reviews of requirements to ensure correct interpretation. Adopt appropriate analysis methods and tools; select from predictive or adaptive approaches as appropriate. Collaborate with stakeholders for strategy studies, business requirements specifications, and feasibility studies. Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff; offer technical guidance to team members. Triage and analyze incidents; provide clear analysis results and business impact. Assist business analysts and test analysts as necessary. On-call and/or after-hours work may be required. Skills & Qualifications

Required: Experience working with IT development staff on complex projects; strong technical background. Strong data analysis and presentation skills; ability to work collaboratively to meet deadlines; ability to handle multiple tasks. Proven experience in business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development. Ability to influence stakeholders and determine acceptable solutions; excellent documentation, oral and written communication skills. Analytical and conceptual thinking; experience creating detailed reports and presentations. Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills; ability to produce clear, structured requirements specifications. Experience in Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid environments; technical understanding of digital platforms, cloud apps, web services, server-side components, and APIs. Data analysis skills including intermediate to advanced SQL; scripting experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Visio, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); advanced Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, vlookup, macros). Understanding of REST and SOAP Web Services; familiarity with SoapUI or REST API clients. Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau preferred). Education: BS or BA with emphasis in computer science, information systems, or business administration. 5-7+ years related work experience. CCBA and/or CBAP certifications preferred. Compensation

The wage range is provided for Connecticut; Knights of Columbus reserves the right to adjust if the position is in another location. Current estimated range: $85,400 - $140,900. Other Details
