The Medical Assistant - Family Practice - Durant, Oklahoma position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties, which include: Assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviewing patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), venipuncture, and procedures as directed by the physician within the scope of practice in the State. Recording documentation in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guidelines. Preparing treatment rooms for the examination of patients. Assisting in covering the front desk as required. Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics that align with UHS acute care facilities. Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required Medical Assistant certificate preferred. Current BLS/CPR certification required Work experience: Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year of experience as a Medical Assistant Familiarity with medical terminology is required Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol) Knowledge: General medical office procedures Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol) Skills: Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred Abilities: Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions Work environment: Works in a well-lighted, OSHA Standard environment May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases May be in contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances Occasionally subject to irregular hours May be required to wear personal protective equipment as necessary Mental/Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to handle emergency or crisis situations Must be able to see with corrective eyewear Must be able to hear clearly with assistance EEO Statement
