We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full-Time, Medical Receptionist at Princeton Gastroenterology in Princeton, NJ.

About the Role:

The Medical Receptionist serves as the vital first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment. This role is essential in managing patient flow efficiently by scheduling appointments, handling inquiries, and coordinating communication between patients and healthcare providers. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for maintaining accurate patient records and managing sensitive information with confidentiality and compliance to healthcare regulations. By facilitating smooth administrative operations, this position supports the overall effectiveness of the clinical team and enhances patient satisfaction. Ultimately, the Medical Receptionist contributes significantly to the quality of care delivered by ensuring that all front desk activities are handled with precision and empathy.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a medical receptionist or front desk role within a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare administrative procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a gastroenterology or specialty medical practice.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification and medical billing processes.
  • Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.
  • Advanced proficiency in EHR software and appointment scheduling platforms.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet and welcome patients and visitors promptly and courteously upon arrival.
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff members.
  • Verify patient information, update medical records, and ensure accuracy of data entry.
  • Collect and process patient co-payments and handle billing inquiries in coordination with the billing department.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to manage patient flow and communicate any delays or changes effectively.
  • Prepare and organize patient paperwork and documentation required for visits and procedures.

The Medical Receptionist utilizes strong organizational skills daily to manage appointment schedules and patient records accurately, ensuring smooth clinic operations. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, addressing their concerns, and coordinating with clinical staff to optimize patient flow. Proficiency in EHR systems and office software enables the receptionist to efficiently handle data entry, billing processes, and documentation management.
