Third Sector Intelligence, Inc. is hiring: Senior Software Engineer in Seattle
Third Sector Intelligence, Inc., Seattle, WA, US
Job Description
Remote – California, Colorado, Oregon, or Washington only
About Us
3Si (Third Sector Intelligence) is a mission-driven SaaS company helping governments, nonprofits, and philanthropies use data to improve the lives of children. We build Early Childhood Integrated Data Systems (ECIDS) that help states and cities identify and address service gaps—with a deep commitment to privacy, security, and responsible data use.
We’re launching a next-generation platform from the ground up. This role will be one of the first senior engineering hires, with broad ownership across application development, DevOps, and infrastructure. If you’re an independent builder who cares about user experience and secure design, this is your chance to shape a platform that matters.
What You’ll Do
- Own full-stack features from concept to deployment using Python (Flask/FastAPI) and React
- Design clean, intuitive dashboards and data visualizations that make complex data understandable
- Architect and maintain infrastructure as code with Terraform, including secure deployments in Azure/AWS
- Run CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar) and containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Implement authentication and data protection workflows aligned with HIPAA/FERPA/SOC2 requirements
- Collaborate directly with product managers and clients to align features with compliance and mission goals
- Maintain evidence for compliance audits through logs, permissions, and deployment records
- Document and mentor, raising the bar on code quality, design, and operational discipline
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 3+ years owning production deployments end-to-end
- Expert in Python (Flask/FastAPI) and React, with demonstrated ability to deliver polished dashboards and strong UX
- Proven track record managing Terraform-based IaC and CI/CD pipelines in production environments
- Hands-on experience running secure workloads in Azure or AWS, including IAM, monitoring, and logging
- Background in compliance-sensitive sectors (government, healthcare, education, or finance) with examples of secure application design
- Portfolio/GitHub links required showing production-level apps or dashboards you’ve built (applications without this will not be considered)
- Exceptional independence: able to design, implement, and deploy without heavy PM or DevOps support
- Strong communication skills for distributed, client-facing work
Key Traits We Value
- Independent & resourceful: You thrive when you own the full lifecycle, from design sketches to Terraform plans
- Product-minded: You think about the end user and compliance implications as much as the code
- Design-oriented: You have an eye for visual detail and can back it up with working React components
- Compliance-aware: You understand logging, evidence, and least-privilege as part of daily engineering, not afterthoughts
Bonus Points For
- Databricks or advanced analytics integration experience
- Rebuilding Tableau/PowerBI dashboards into web applications
- Prior work in civic tech, health tech, or other high-trust domains
- Comfort experimenting with AI tooling (e.g., Copilot, OpenAI) to accelerate workflows
Why Join Us?
