GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the CTO, the Marketing Manager oversees all marketing efforts for the organization as a hands-on leader of the marketing function. This solo-contributor role collaborates closely with executive leadership to develop and execute marketing strategy, while managing resources and vendors to ensure efficient, high-quality outcomes. The Marketing Manager is responsible for the public representation of Goodwill’s brand and mission across all channels, including digital advertising, social media, and in-store marketing.
This position owns an annual marketing budget covering advertising, events, and vendor/contractor support. The Marketing Manager plans and optimizes campaigns (with a focus on Google Ads), drives social media engagement, and ensures brand consistency across Goodwill’s retail and digital touchpoints. The role also involves creating compelling content (short-form videos, graphics, photography) and managing web content to tell Goodwill’s story and support its programs and retail operations. By tracking performance and refining tactics, the Marketing Manager will increase Goodwill’s audience reach and advance the organization’s mission through effective marketing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strategy & planning: Partner with leadership to set goals and align marketing with mission and organization priorities.
- Budget & paid media: Manage the annual marketing budget; plan, launch, and optimize Google Ads and other social media campaigns to drive traffic, revenue, and engagement.
- Social media: Own calendar, publishing, community management, and paid boosts; grow reach with consistent, on-brand storytelling. Manage third-party contributors and influencers.
- Brand management: Maintain visual identity and voice across digital, print, in-store signage, and collateral.
- Content production: Design flyers/ads; capture and edit short-form video and photography; create assets for campaigns and storytelling.
- Web: Support site updates with the webmaster; publish/edit pages and posts; keep content accurate and on-brand.
- Events: Coordinate marketing for promotions and community events; produce materials; drive awareness via social/email; provide on-site photo/video.
- Vendors: Source and manage designers, printers, media partners, and contractors; negotiate placements; ensure quality and timelines.
- Analytics & reporting: Track web, social, and ad performance; present insights and recommendations to leadership.
- Planning & innovation: Maintain the marketing calendar; test new channels/tools (email, SEO/SEM, social features).
- Collaboration & governance: Support internal teams; review content for brand compliance and ethical standards; other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education/experience: Bachelor’s in Marketing/Communications (or equivalent) and 3–6 years professional marketing experience.
- PPC: Hands-on social media Ads and other social media planning, execution, and optimization; budget stewardship and ROI focus.
- Social: Strategy, publishing, and community management with measurable growth/engagement.
- Creative: Graphic design + short-form video + photography (Canva and Adobe CC: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; basic video editing).
- Web/CMS: WordPress content updates; basic web/UX awareness.
- Communication: Clear, on-brand writing and confident presentation to stakeholders.
- Execution: Organized, detail-oriented multitasker; self-directed with strong deadlines management.
- Collaboration: Works effectively as a “team-of-one” while partnering with leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Analytics: Comfortable with Google Analytics and social insights; data-driven decisions.
- Logistics: Able to work on-site in Sacramento and travel within territory to stores/events as needed.

POSITION INFORMATION:
This position is a full time, non-exempt position eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; 403(b) retirement plan; Paid Holidays, Vacation and Sick Leave. This position is employed by Goodwill Industries® of Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada, Inc.
