Project Overview

The PST program was designed to provide opportunities for trainees, with various levels of job and soft skills, to get training and work experience. The Transitional Employment Support Services (TESS) program was developed in order to increase the success of PST participants at their host sites and move towards unsubsidized employment. Work sites include Recreation and Parks Department (RPD), SF Metropolitan Transportation Agency (MTA), SF Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), and others City Departments.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, and in close collaboration with staff and external partners, the Care Coordinator - Workforce (TESS) will be responsible for the recruitment, screening, enrollment, case management, and job placement assistance for program participants. This position ensures effective integration of training and services for participants, including referrals to appropriate training programs, support services providers, One Stop Career Link services, and potential employers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides job search and placement assistance to program participants, as job retention services for both the participant and the employer after the placement. Make appropriate job referrals and assist with the job match. Assess participant's occupational skills and interest as they pertain to the local job market and assist in setting and reaching appropriate employment objectives. Provide career, vocational, and employment counseling, and assists in development of an Individual Employment Plan by determining the participant's educational and professional qualifications and transferable skills. Assist clients in identifying appropriate short and long-term employment objectives; map out strategies for reaching employment objectives; provide corresponding job development; and support the participant throughout job search. Make appropriate training plans and referrals as needed. Able to create and build relationships with employers for direct contact and referrals. Coordinate and facilitate job readiness, pre-employment, and job search workshops tailored specifically for participants. Job Readiness and Pre-Employment workshops cover a variety of topics including career opportunities, effective employee behaviors, developing a good work ethic, and managing work-life balance. Job search workshops cover a variety of topics including resume and cover letter writing, completing employment applications, interviewing skills, networking skills, and effective workplace communication. Coordinate and conduct individual and group instruction through demonstration, lecture, guest speakers, cooperative learning activities and other modalities of teaching which address learning style differences and potential learning disabilities. Distribute and report on all appropriate workshop surveys and assessments to track participant satisfaction and skills gains. Verify, enter, and submit participant hours biweekly for payroll utilizing ADP software. Ensure compliance with agency, funder, and governmental reporting requirements. Support ongoing program evaluation efforts including weekly meetings to discuss participant progress and communicate with funders as needed. Data entry, tracking and reporting of client information, progress and employer/employment engagement activities including communication with funders. Maintain accurate case records, program data, and other statistical records as needed to comply with monitoring visits and annual contractual audits. Assist in preparation for program audits by preparing weekly reports and managing case notes. Maintain constant communication with HSA staff and participate in YCD team, agency, funder, and community meetings. Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

A successful candidate will possess:

B.A./B.S. degree in a related field and at least three years of relevant experience preferred. Associate degree and seven years of related experience will be considered in lieu of B.A./B.S. degree requirement. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, as well as working remotely from home. Experience in staffing, recruiting, employment coaching, job development, or other relevant/transferable work experience. Proven/demonstrated track record of establishing and building trusting relationships with marginalized/underserved community residents. Understand and embrace YCD's holistic service-delivery model. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including public speaking, written communications, patience, diplomacy, and high level of customer service skills. Must have proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Must be comfortable with and adapt quickly to organizational, program and departmental changes. Strong commitment to the mission of Young Community Developers Inc. and to individuals from diverse populations. Well organized, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet performance objectives; excellent team player. True attention to detail; ability to accurately complete paperwork in a timely manner. Continuous commitment to improve and develop occupational knowledge. Exhibit proficiencies in MS Office, Google workspace and similar programs,and the concept of relational databases, internet navigation, and keen research abilities. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: To best mitigate the spread of disease and protect our staff, it is a condition of employment that all employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Because YCD prioritizes the health and well-being of employees, proof of vaccination will be required upon hire and be kept on file for each employee.
