Job Description
Construction Inspector
Period of performance: one base and 4 option years
2.2.1. The contractor shall be familiar with and adhere to all instructions outlined in the 32 series Civil Engineer AFIs, Unified Facilities Criteria, and applicable building codes.
2.2.2. The contractor shall work with 47 CES/CENM Project Managers to ensure construction contractor compliance with approved plans and specifications for various construction contracts. Contracts may be for the construction or renovation of large, complex administrative office buildings, hospitals, aircraft maintenance and industrial facilities, or utility distribution systems.
2.2.3. The contractor shall coordinate with construction contractor representatives concerning work scheduling, interpretation of plans and specifications, selection of work methods, and acceptability of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
2.2.4. The contractor shall investigate and report on controversial situations which have either led to formal claims or are expected to lead to such claims by the construction contractor.

2.2.5. The contractor shall coordinate with the contracting officer to correct construction contract deficiencies, unacceptable material, or work performed to ensure compliance with the contract requirements.
2.2.6. The contractor shall monitor and evaluate construction contract progress schedules noting work progress, delays, or other problems that could interfere with construction, review construction contractor’s cost breakdowns, progress measurement data, reports of material and equipment used, and field inspection and survey reports in order to compute periodic payments and recommend approval/disapproval of contractor submittals and progress schedules.
2.2.7. The contractor shall prepare various documents, reports, and correspondence and maintain daily logs and safety reports addressing the progress of construction and the administration of the contract.
2.2.8. The contractor shall provide Construction Dailies and Weekly Activity Reports.
2.2.9 The possession of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture for the contractor is encouraged. The possession of a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is encouraged. The possession of additional construction trade inspection certification is highly encouraged.
2.2.10 The contractor shall have current 2021 or 2024 National Commercial Inspector certification from the International Code Council (ICC) under the B2 category or possess a minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a commercial construction superintendent on public, private, and/or Federal projects is a requirement.
2.2.11 The contractor shall have current 2021 or 2024 National Commercial Electrical Inspector, Commercial Mechanical Inspector, or Commercial Plumbing Inspector certification from the International Code Council (ICC) under the E2, M2, or P2 category is recommended.
