Overview

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to support our mission on Patreon, a media and community platform where creators engage with fans through memberships, live video, and direct sales. The role is based in San Francisco and hybrid (in-office 2 days per week).

About The Team

The Senior Accountant will be part of the Accounting team, reporting to the Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting Manager, and will participate in general ledger/close activities.

About The Role

The Senior Accountant will be an integral part of the monthly close process, financial reporting/technical accounting, and other accounting projects by:

  • Preparing month-end journal entries and reconciliations in accordance with US GAAP and company policies
  • Performing trend analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts, ensuring significant fluctuations are explained and supported
  • Driving process improvements and automation initiatives to gain efficiencies in the close timeline and overall control environment
  • Providing support for the annual financial statement audit and statutory audits to ensure timeliness and quality of deliverables
  • Assisting in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and related disclosures
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including FP&A, FinOps, Tax, Legal, IT, HR, Payments, Facilities, and others
  • Assisting in the implementation of new accounting policies and memo documentation of new and current policies
  • Performing ad-hoc accounting requests as needed

About You

  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Accounting or equivalent, CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of public accounting and/or industry experience
  • Strong understanding of cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, intercompany, equity, and financial reporting
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem solving, analytical, and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality and accuracy
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP system preferred
