$35-55/hr. (W2) Akkodis is seeking an HFC Network Designer to join a team to support our client with a major network upgrade project. This will be a hybrid working schedule to start but may be more remote once you are up to speed. This project is slated to last about 12 months. The desired candidate has a minimum of two years experience in an HFC engineering role focused on designing advanced HFC network layouts to support mid-split and high-split upgrades, node splits, fiber deep designs, and capacity enhancements. The ideal candidate will bring design expertise (not just drafting), a strong understanding of HFC standards, and experience collaborating across engineering and construction teams. Key Responsibilities Design & Drafting Create and update HFC network designs using LodeData, GIS, and AutoCAD. Develop plans for mid-split and high-split upgrades to increase upstream bandwidth. Produce accurate strand maps and splice diagrams. Ensure all designs comply with client standards for aerial and underground layouts. Field Data Integration Update design records based on field engineer input and construction feedback. Revise and maintain LodeData files to ensure accuracy and compliance. Conduct quality checks and revise designs based on feedback or field changes. Network Engineering Perform node splits, fiber-deep designs, and capacity upgrades. Maintain existing passives where possible, making adjustments when necessary. Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues, including safety circuits (e-stop, relays, wiring, fuses, TIA Portal tools). Qualifications Experience: 25 years in HFC network design (with a focus on design, not just drafting). Technical Skills: Proficiency in HFC network design principles. Hands-on experience developing mid-split and high-split upgrade designs. Skilled in node splits, fiber deep design, and capacity upgrades. Strong knowledge of GIS and AutoCAD. Ability to create and maintain strand maps, splice diagrams, and design documentation. LodeData experience highly preferred. Soft Skills: Strong collaboration skills; able to work with field engineers, project managers, and construction teams. Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and organizational abilities.
