Job Overview:

As an integral member of the Employee Relations Center of Expertise (“ER”), the Workplace Accommodations Specialist will provide support to Human Resources Business Partners, System leaders and members of the Talent Acquisition & Integration COE (“TAI”) by consulting on accommodation requests. This Specialist role will provide guidance on facilitating the interactive process, required documentation, implementation and next steps to ensure a timely, effective resolution.

The position requires attention to detail, critical-thinking, collaboration, communication, facilitation and organizational skills as well as expertise in applying all federal, state and local disability-related laws.

Qualifications:

Required:

BA/BS in a related field

Three or more years’ experience with ADA, FLA, FMLA, LOA administration, disability, and/or workers’ accommodations

One-year experience in preparing educational materials and delivering high quality, effective presentations to large and small audiences

Understanding of Federal and State disability-related laws – e.g. PWFA, ADA/ADAAA, FMLA, NJESL, NJFLA, NJFLI, NJLAD and Workers’ Compensation required

Understanding of HIPAA and related privacy laws and regulations required

Proven proficiency in Employee Relations/Human Resources software – e.g. HR Acuity, PeopleSoft, preferre

Proven proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong communication skills with an ability to interact and relate to individuals of diverse disabilities and backgrounds

Essential Functions:

Interacts daily with HR Business Partners on new and established accommodations

Reviews documentation including, but not limited to, job descriptions, work environment, staffing and recommended accommodation

Monitors the implementation and efficacy of approved accommodations; addresses any concerns and if necessary, re-initiates the interactive process

Escalates denials and complex accommodation issues for guidance

Consults with Employee Health, Employee Assistance, Legal and/or Risk as appropriate

Coaches HR Business Partners and Leaders on the applicable laws and their application

Partners with the ER COE Data Analyst to prepare and provide periodic, and ad hoc, reports, as required

Analyzes trends and provides recommendations based on the findings

Delivers presentations, conducts workshops and prepares educational materials to increase the understanding of Human Resourcesand their stakeholders

Maintains confidentiality throughout the process and in handling documentation

Participates on designated System committee/work groups

Remains current with applicable laws, regulations and/or standards – federal, state and local
