Project Manager - Civil Engineering
Overview:
The Project Manager is responsible for managing and executing civil and structural engineering projects at a nuclear station. This role requires expertise in concrete, steel, carbon fiber reinforcement, seismic design, and building design, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and compliance with nuclear standards. The Project Manager will perform complex technical tasks with minimal supervision, providing technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and field staff while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of civil/structural projects, including design, procurement, construction, and closeout.
- Apply the Standard Design Process (SDP) to develop, review, and approve engineering deliverables in compliance with NRC regulations and industry standards.
- Perform complex technical tasks and make independent technical decisions and interpretations.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to subordinate engineers, contractors, and inspection staff.
- Deliver expertise in structural, concrete, steel, carbon fiber applications, seismic design, and building design to support plant infrastructure needs.
- Conduct and oversee field inspections to ensure work is completed safely, in accordance with design documents, and compliant with quality standards.
- Prepare and review calculations, specifications, drawings, and engineering reports.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules; identify risks and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Communicate project status, risks, and deliverables to site leadership and key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable NRC, ASME, ACI, and ANSI codes and standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of six (6) years of discipline engineering experience, or High School/GED and ten (10) years related experience (required).
- Civil Engineering degree strongly preferred.
- Standard Design Process (SDP) qualification required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in structural, concrete, steel, carbon fiber reinforcement, seismic design, and building design.
- Proven experience performing and overseeing field inspections in nuclear or similarly regulated industries.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with project management tools, Primavera P6, and engineering design software.
