Overview
First Book seeks a creative, values-driven, and entrepreneurial individual to lead new business development strategies for this fast-growing organization. The position sources and cultivates NEW corporate partnerships, and focuses on capacity-building and programmatic strategies that support organizational growth. The Marketing Manager helps get thousands of books and critical resources to kids in need by taking new partnerships and resources for educators from concept to large-scale, multi-channel distribution.
The ideal candidate is a demonstrated leader with experience in a fast-paced environment, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a highly collaborative work style. This role requires strong business writing and presentation skills, excellent verbal communication, experience with pitch formation and delivery, bold thinking, critical thinking, and a passion for corporate social responsibility.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Support Program Design & Resource Creation — guide the structure of programs and their communication campaigns to ensure all touch points are user-friendly, impactful, and relevant.
- Multi-Channel Marketing — work with senior marketing leadership to create and execute marketing plans that drive awareness and usage of First Book’s products, resources, and opportunities.
- Design content and campaign elements/assets for multi-channel campaigns (e.g., email, digital ad creative, SMS).
- Develop and execute communication strategies to promote new resources and initiatives through paid and organic channels (Meta, Google ads, social, email, SMS, direct mail).
- Monitor campaign performance, implement adjustments, and create reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Note: The role includes responsibilities related to developing and marketing resources that support practitioners and educators, and requires collaboration with brand, corporate, and nonprofit partnership managers.
Qualifications
- Experience planning and creating design assets for multi-channel marketing and communications campaigns.
- Experience with organic and paid social strategies.
- Excellent copywriting and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Graphic design skills and visual creativity.
- Strong project management and interpersonal skills; ability to build and grow relationships.
- Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels, using data and creativity to drive growth.
- Positive, solution-oriented mindset and passion for First Book’s mission.
Education, Experience, And Systems
- 4+ years of work experience in communications or digital marketing.
- Experience managing performance-oriented paid social campaigns (e.g., Meta and/or Google Ads).
- Proficiency with graphic design tools such as Photoshop or Canva.
- Experience with marketing platforms (e.g., Marketing Cloud, Constant Contact) preferred.
- Experience with WordPress preferred.
- Experience with external client/partner relationship management preferred.
