Summary of Position

The individual will perform electrical wiring of automated systems, including installations, troubleshooting, and repairs. May have all or partial responsibility for electrical and/or pneumatic systems on large integration programs. Major responsibilities include wiring panels to the automated machinery, end-devices on motion platforms, powering / troubleshooting electrical panels, wiring the process heads, and wiring the fastener feeder systems to the main control panel.

Essential Functions

  • Perform PMs and repair electrical systems of industrial machinery.
  • Follow electrical codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints/schematics and wiring diagrams (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
  • Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, connect cables between machines and equipment.
  • Wire machines, run conduit, build control panels.
  • Run pneumatic lines to valves and cylinders.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning equipment and repair/replace components.
  • Ensure the safety of electrical systems.
  • Repair or replace wires, cables or other fixtures/equipment using hand tools.
  • Perform troubleshooting; startup and debug of machinery.
  • Travel to customer facilities for machine installations and service.
  • Any additional duties as reasonably assigned by management.

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:

  • Must meet Export Control Compliance requirements; a "US Person" as defined by 22.C.F.R. is required.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least 2 years electrical experience.
  • Associates degree in Electrical or related field preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
  • Maintain current knowledge of NFPA, NEC, UL 508, IEC and CE as they relate to control panel design and build.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyman Electrician preferred.
  • Associates degree in Electrical or related field preferred.
  • Ability to organize and maintain effective inventory.

Travel Requirements

Position will require out-of-the-area and overnight travel. Travel can be up to 30% of the time.

Working Conditions

  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Typically sits for extended periods at a computer workstation.
  • May access and work in the manufacturing plant.
  • Exposure to noise and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to caustic chemicals.
  • May work weekends to meet department and business demands.
  • May work from elevated platforms and ladders.
  • Safe manufacturing processes; eyewear is mandatory in the manufacturing area.
  • May be required to obtain certification to operate lift trucks, man lifts, and overhead crane equipment.
  • Safety shoes are recommended in the manufacturing area.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must be able to see, talk, hear, touch, feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 35 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
