U.S. Department of Defense is hiring: DENTAL ASSISTANT in Honolulu

About the Position: This position is for Directorate of Dental located at Fort Shafter, Hawaii.

Duties

• Perform inter-oral procedures as directed by the Dentist.
• Take preliminary impressions for study models, remove sutures, place and remove rubber dams, perio-packs, matrix bands, and wedges.
• Instruct patient in proper dental techniques, care of appliances, and causes of dental decay.
• Operate dental X-ray equipment to take intra and extra-oral radiographs.
• Chart examination and treatment information as relayed by dentist to patient records.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• One year trial/probationary period may be required.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DHA 335 Form requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
• This position is designated as Mission Essential Position. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work and remain at work in the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster).
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.
• Radiology Certification: You MUST submit a copy of your radiology certification/ Transcripts showing your completed radiology credits with your application package or you will be rated ineligible.
