Work in an ambulatory health care center. Work or learn to work closely with patients and dentists. Assist in care of patient's teeth, recordkeeping, appointment scheduling, taking x-rays.

We are accepting applications year-round with eligible applicants being placed on a standing register and eligible candidates referred for consideration as vacancies occur, with referral at multiple grade levels, locations, and appointment types.

This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Due to this, the agency must ensure hires have not been found guilty of certain crimes.

Adherence to the IHS Employee Immunization Policy, SGM 21-04, and Circular 2016-04 is required, including immunizations for Measles, Rubella, COVID-19, and seasonal influenza, unless an exemption is submitted.

Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. You will need to set up direct deposit for payment.

Background Investigation: Selected candidates must undergo fingerprint checks and background investigations, with clearance prior to hire. Continued employment depends on the outcome of these checks. False statements may lead to disqualification or termination. A credit check may also be part of the process.

Individual Occupational Requirements (for GS-3 and above)

CERTIFICATION TO ADMINISTER RADIOLOGIC PROCEDURES

Persons must meet credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75, including education and certification requirements. Specific criteria are outlined for those employed before and after the regulation's effective date.

Specialized experience for GS-4 and above includes dental assistance work or related experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • GS-02: Resume must show at least 3 months of general experience.
  • GS-03: Resume must show at least 6 months of general experience, such as medical or dental office support.
  • GS-04: Resume must show 1 year of experience, including patient scheduling and dental terminology, plus 6 months of specialized dental assistance experience.
