Position Description: What You'll Do and Who You'll Work With. Reporting directly to the Director of Electrical Engineering, the Principal Engineer will be responsible for electrical engineering design aspects of capital projects and facility upgrades, electrical design support for planned outages and equipment troubleshooting, and business development/expansion projects at various operating facilities. The role will lead, manage and execute multiple electrical projects/programs in the network, provide subject matter expertise, and drive technical standardization as a guardian of Electrical Design Standards for Reworld. This role may mentor junior team members and will have high visibility within the organization and tangible impact on success. Primary Electrical Engineering SME to the business. Location: Morristown, NJ Headquarters preferred. Travel: ~20% across the network; travel to domestic locations and to Low-Cost Countries (e.g., China) may be required. A remote work option is available with some additional travel to Morristown and across the network. Compensation varies by location.

Responsibilities

Independently develop/review/approve Electrical System Design documents including One Line/Three Line Diagrams, Control Schematics, Wiring diagrams, Arc Flash, Short Circuit & Voltage Drop Calculations, and Coordination Studies.

Develop scope of work for Electrical AE firms and coordinate with suppliers and contractors.

Plan design tasks so that design and construction are completed within budget and schedule.

May assume duties of technical lead and SME for small to medium capital programs.

Electrical Design scope includes System Design, Scope Development, Engineering Calculations, Specifications, and Risk Assessments for HV, MV systems (Switchgears, transformers, MCCs, Relay/Protection Systems).

Independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and criteria; act as SME for Reworld Electrical Standards.

Guard and update Key Electrical Design Standards/Specifications; ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory developments.

Provide SME design support to Project Managers on assigned construction projects and assist with commissioning and installations for designated designs.

Provide Electrical Engineering design troubleshooting support to plant operations and analyze failure root causes to develop cost-effective solutions.

Requirements and Qualifications

Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

Minimum 10 years of engineering experience.

Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain licensure preferred.

Experience with High, Medium & Low Voltage distribution systems and electrical power generation in large utility power plants or large industrial co-generation facilities or design/architectural engineering firms.

Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision.

Proficiency in developing and understanding One Line/Three Line Diagrams, DC Control Schematics, Wiring diagrams, GA drawings related to interconnections, substations, power plants and electrical aspects of process plants (motors, MCCs, PDCs, etc.).

Experience with all project phases including preliminary design, scoping, detailed design, equipment selection, testing and startup problem resolution. Includes HV to LV voltage ranges.

Experience with protective relaying schemes (Medium Voltage) including coordination and relay settings; SEL relays experience highly preferred.

Proficiency with engineering software such as CAD/AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM Powertools, SEL Acselerator, etc.

Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to analyze data, write technical reports, and develop work packages for recommendations; capability to handle multiple assignments.
