Greater Chicago Food Depository . **Job Description:** The Major Gift Officer is a key member of the Individual Giving team, responsible for a revenue goal of over $15 million within a $55+ million Development Department. The role focuses on securing individual major gifts of $10,000 and above, managing a portfolio of approximately 125-150 prospects, and supporting the organization’s fundraising strategies. The candidate should have experience in closing major gifts, building relationships, and demonstrating a strong command of fundraising principles, including direct solicitation and closing five-figure gifts. The role also supports equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts in fundraising. Key Responsibilities:
Manage a portfolio of 100-125 prospects, focusing on gifts of $10,000+. Conduct outreach, cultivation, and stewardship activities, including about 100 visits annually. Develop and implement personalized relationship plans aligned with financial goals. Collaborate on solicitation strategies and oversee recognition opportunities for donors. Prepare detailed documents and update donor records timely. Qualifications:
Experience closing 4+ figure gifts in a nonprofit or similar environment. Excellent communication, organizational skills, and proficiency in MS Office and development databases. Interpersonal skills suitable for engaging donors, volunteers, and colleagues. Additional Information:
Work environment involves limited exposure to warehouse settings and interaction with staff, donors, and the public. Occasional travel and evening/weekend hours required. Benefits:
