Senior Technology Project Manager

Job Summary:

Lafayette Group is seeking a highly motivated Senior TechnologyProject Manager to support federal cybersecurity programs. The Senior TechnologyProject Manager is responsible for managing technology projects and oversees project planning, execution, monitoring, and closure, ensuring alignment with the client's operational priorities and resource availability. This role requires strong management skills paired with experience in business operations for cybersecurity units with a focus on improving internal processes and supporting adoption of new initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead teams in managing technology projects using industry-standard methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).

Overseeing development of project charters, proposals, plans, risk registers, and other documentation.

Coordinate collection of requirements from stakeholders, ensuring they are properly tracked and managed.

Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to ensure successful project outcomes.

Track project progress using tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and GitHub and provide regular updates to leadership and prepare weekly written updates.

Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including project sponsors, service owners, developers, and users.

Build workflows to support project execution and operational efficiency.

Ensure quality assurance and user acceptance testing (UAT) are conducted efficiently.

Conduct routine and ad-hoc meetings with project stakeholders.

Ensure timely completion of projects and proper documentation in Confluence.

Allocate resources effectively to meet project objectives and timelines.

Assist with client engagement and support, including preparing for and

Lead meetings, facilitate planning and data gathering sessions, and develop recommendations for plans, documents, and reports.

Support the development of written work products including strategic plans, assessments and reports, presentations, talking points, fact sheets, and white papers.

Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders; demonstrate that client needs are heard and understood, and their feedback is valued.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree

12+ years of professional experience in project management for cybersecurity and/or IT projects in federal, state, or large enterprise environments

Prior consulting or program support experience with DHS, CISA, or other federal agencies.

Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure on-time, on-budget deliverables

Experience with business operations and process improvement with the ability to evaluate workflows, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements that increase team effectiveness

Demonstrated ability to work across multiple divisions or mission areas, building consensus and ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives

Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines, adhere to project plans, and coach team to success on several projects simultaneously

Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of staff, including senior leadership, both internal and on the client site

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level briefings, reports, decision memos, and policy documents for senior leadership

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Eligibility to obtain a U.S. government public trust and/or security clearance

Desired Qualifications:

Project Management Professional or similar certification (e.g., CAPM, Agile)

Prior consulting or program support experience with DHS, CISA, or other federal cybersecurity organizations.

Familiarity with federal cybersecurity regulations, risk management practices, and strategic planning frameworks (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NCIRP, or OMB policies)

Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and similar project management tools

Existing TS or Secret clearance or DHS Suitability

Location:

Arlington, VA

Federal Contracts:

This position involves working on federal contracts that require all workers on the contract to be U.S. Citizens. Additionally, some contracts may require the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Salary Range : $130,000-$150,000

Hours:

Full-time (40 hours/week)

Expected Start Date:

October 1, 2025

Contingent Hire:

This position will be hired contingent upon winning the Federal contract work.
