Job SummaryGENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Under general direction of the Medical Assistant Supervisor and the Practice & Operation Manager, the incumbent is responsible for assisting the providers with evaluation, management, and treatment of patients during office visits and other tasks related to the visit consistent with their training and skills. The individual will perform the duties of the Medical Assistant I and II to meet the timely needs for care of patients presenting to the Neurology Department. Ensures efficient patient flow and that all patients and other customers are serviced efficiently and effectively. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs all the responsibilities of Medical Assistant I and: Assists front desk with arriving early or late patients Assists providers with dressing changes using sterile techniques Performs phlebotomy Maintains and cares for equipment and environment according to JCAHO requirements Maintains the oversight of a lab tracking system within the unit Assists with the orientation of new staff members as well as training of appropriate staff for the implementation of new tests and/or procedures Responsible for more complex procedures/job duties as defined in unit Performs all other related duties to maintain the operational integrity of the unit Performs medication refill per departmental protocolQualificationsSKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology Familiarity with managed care plan requirements Excellent Customer Service skills Strong leadership skills Strong communication, interpersonal and team building skills Ability to exercise judgement in dealing with sensitive, confidential information Operational, problem solving and decision-making skills Proficient with office software packages such as word processing, spreadsheets and database managementEDUCATION: Minimum Required: High school diploma, GED or equivalent Certificate : Medical Assistant or equivalent Field of Study/Additional Specialized Training: Completed and pass the competency training for phlebotomy and medication refill.EXPERIENCE: Required: Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant a comparable setting.Additional Job Details (if applicable)Additional Job DescriptionRemote TypeOnsiteWork Location15 Parkman StreetScheduled Weekly Hours40Employee TypeRegularWork ShiftDay (United States of America)Pay Range$17.36 - $24.45/HourlyGrade3At Mass General Brigham, we believe in recognizing and rewarding the unique value each team member brings to our organization.
