Under the Direction Of The Vice President For Institutional Advancement, the Director Of Institutional Giving provides strategic and operational leadership for the University's corporation, foundation, and government fundraising program, in support of the institution's strategic priorities. The director will: Provide strategic leadership and develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy to increase support from foundation, government, and corporate donors/prospects. Serve as an integral member of the leadership team for the Division of Institutional Advancement. Engage current and prospective donors in the director's portfolio in collaboration with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Remain knowledgeable about current events, trends, and news impacting institutional support of higher education and the nonprofit sector; seek opportunities for public/private/nonprofit partnerships benefiting the University. Participate in university life and serve on or lead committees, workgroups, task forces, and councils as assigned. Set an annual calendar of grant development activities, proposals, and engagement efforts aligned with the University's priorities. Maintain strong relationships with Accounting, Finance and Administration, Financial Aid, Human Resources, Payroll, and funding agencies to ensure grant compliance and process efficiency. Design and implement processes, procedures, and materials related to proposal development, grant operations, and grant management. Oversee grant/gift acceptance processes including donor acknowledgement, funding notification, and fund creation. Collaborate with Advancement Services to maintain donor records in Raiser's Edge. Supervise the Associate Director of Institutional Giving. Identify funding opportunities and work with senior leadership to identify needs and new funding sources. Conduct donor research and prospecting to identify and qualify new prospects; cultivate relationships with current and prospective institutional donors through engagement activities and communications. Advise Cabinet on strategic matters related to grant opportunities, development, and related administration. Collaborate with Individual Giving to maximize case statements and cross-prospect relationships; develop proposals. Provide strategic leadership and coordination in development, writing, program design, budget development, and submission of proposals. Select, plan, direct, review, and critique work of external grant writers. Coordinate donor site visits and staff visits; prepare briefing materials and talking points for faculty and leadership. Manage grants and a portfolio of 60+ prospective and active donors. Assist grant/project managers, staff, and faculty with grant implementation, compliance, and administration of funded awards. Develop communications strategies with Marketing and Communications for corporate, foundation, and government-related content. Other Duties and Responsibilities

Key fundraising concepts and strategies (identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship) Grants development process, including prospect research, proposal and budget development, solicitation, and award management Expert grant writing and development communications skills Knowledge of institutional funding sources (foundations, corporations, government) Experience with academic programs and learning support systems within higher education and the Catholic community Experience with pre-award sponsored research functions for government grants Supervisory experience Proficiency with office technology and funder/government grant management systems Abilities and Skills

Outstanding written and verbal communication Ability to build relationships with diverse prospects Successful grant writing, proposal development, and grants administration Strong organizational and project management skills Customer service orientation and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment Ability to grasp complex subjects, meet deadlines, and build professional relationships Ability to facilitate meetings and lead diverse teams Ability to work independently and as part of a team Education

Bachelor's degree in English, communications, or related field (advanced degree preferred) Additional certificates in fundraising or grant writing desirable Experience

Ten years in development, grant writing, and institutional fundraising preferred, especially in higher education Extensive experience pursuing funding from foundations, corporations, and government Minimum five years in managing staff and contractors preferred Licenses and Certifications

Valid California driver's license required Other Information
