Director's Office Special Assistant at the Center for Global Sustainability
The Director's Office Special Assistant at the Center for Global Sustainability (CGS) supports the CGS director and senior leadership team across all areas of responsibility. The special assistant will report to the CGS director. Activity areas will include project management, research and briefing, relationship stewardship, management and oversight for major events and engagements, and logistical support. The special assistant supports the director, associate director, and assistant director in engagement with senior management teams, funders, government and institutional representatives, and other key stakeholders. The special assistant will also support the director and the director's office leadership in meeting preparation and facilitation and daily administrative tasks. The successful candidate will be able to handle and prioritize, based on organizational needs, multiple activities at the same time, and have superior attention to detail and excellent written communication skills. This position requires occasional off-site and off-hours availability. Participates with the Director and senior leadership in institutional planning, policy development, and problem resolution. Works under moderate supervision. Addresses problems that are typically routine in nature but may occasionally require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. Facilitates interactions between the Director's Office and the three CGS administrative offices (HR, Finance, and Communications & Public Affairs), as well as coordinating communications with the Dean's Office and other university offices. Communicates information that may require explanation or interpretation. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a related discipline Experience in government and policy environment, including domestic and international aspects Excellent writing and communication skills Experience with prioritizing and delivering in a fast-paced and fluid environment Experience with engagement Physical Demands: This is primarily sedentary work. Work takes place in both an office environment and on-campus buildings, requiring the ability to travel throughout the campus. While the position is not physically demanding, the incumbent must be able to perform well under strict deadlines. Licenses/Certifications: N/A Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: Three (3) years of experience in related field. Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
