Job Description:

The accountant owns the inventory accounting for "client" Pharmacy ("Pharmacy"), which includes all pharmacy inventory cycle accounting events (receipts, returns/adjustments, dispenses), cost of goods sold ("COGS"), inventory reserves, and supplier rebates. This role operates as an embedded controllership function within the health business due to the nature of its nascent and partially integrated processes.

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Ability to perform month-end close and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Combination: Better if they had bookkeeping or journal entry experience
  • Month-end reconciliation- no year of experience.
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • CPA or equivalent
  • Experience working with a fast-paced, high-tech start-up or similar company
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations
  • Aptitude for information technology - systems in particular?
  • Experience in ERP systems, Oracle, or PeopleSoft.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

Responsibilities:

Pharmacy accounting processes present unique complexities through non-integrated systems and data, unique high-volume legal entities, multiple 3P service providers (ex., Medicaid, Blue Cross, UHC, GoodRx, etc.), and compliance-related matters with the use of protected health information. As a result, this role works with non-standard processes and data sourced from 1P (Pharmacy owns and sells directly to customers or wholesalers) and 3P systems.

It requires the ability to identify and resolve data quality issues through internal controls, data analysis, and calculations to determine the reasonability of financial results (refer to using math and logic to check whether reported figures are plausible or consistent with other known data. It's not about proving something is correct-just whether it seems reasonable).

This role requires effective communication and frequently educates non-accountants about financial processes, data sources, controls, and systems. The Finance Manager must identify incomplete or inaccurate data, determine the root cause, and partner on the resolution.

Lastly, this role leads and implements process improvements, including financial system integration on-boarding and simplification initiatives to reduce month-end close timelines.

Must be authorized to work in the United States
