Shift: Week 1: Monday, Tuesday (9 a.m. – 9 p.m., 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.); Friday (9 a.m. – 9 p.m., 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.); Saturday (9 a.m. – 7 p.m.)

Join Our Compassionate Healthcare Team! Are you a dedicated social worker with a passion for supporting patients and families through complex psychosocial and medical challenges? Arnett Hospital is seeking a Social Worker (MSW) to provide expert assessments, crisis intervention, discharge planning, and community resource coordination across a dynamic hospital environment.
Position Overview: The Social Worker effectively collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure patients receive safe, timely, and comprehensive services. You will interpret and communicate complex patient and family needs, role model caring practices, and assess psychosocial risks based on prior functioning, support systems, and reactions to illness. Your responsibilities include conducting mental health assessments, facilitating discharge planning—including guardianship, foster care, and mental health placements—and providing crisis intervention for high-risk situations. You will serve as a liaison with protective services, law enforcement, and community agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with medical and mental health teams to deliver safe, effective patient care and discharge planning.
- Assess patients’ and families’ psychosocial needs, including prior functioning, support systems, and reactions to illness.
- Counsel patients and families on emotional, social, and financial impacts of illness/disability.
- Access and mobilize community and family resources to meet patient needs.
- Conduct mental health assessments upon physician referral and provide therapeutic interventions.
- Support complex discharge planning and coordinate guardianship, foster care, adoption, and mental health placements.
- Serve as the primary contact for cases involving child abuse/neglect, adult/elder abuse, institutional abuse, and domestic violence.
- Liaise with protective services, law enforcement, schools, probation, and other agencies.
- Utilize crisis intervention, de-escalation, and interviewing techniques to support high-risk/high-stress situations.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with community partners and healthcare teams.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work required.
- Licensure: Permanent Indiana LSW licensure required; LCSW preferred.
- Temporary LSW licensure considered, with full licensure expected within the first year of employment.
- Experience: 0–3 years of relevant healthcare, mental health, or community-based social work experience.
- Additional Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the impact of disease processes and human behavior for assessments, crisis intervention, and counseling.
- Understanding of state and county legal mandates related to protective services.
- Principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
- Proficiency in crisis de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with community agencies, law enforcement, and healthcare teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
