The Vice President of Business Development is responsible for acquiring and onboarding a pipeline of strategic partners – merchant acquirers and ISOs – serving small business merchants in need of working capital and SBF products. The role partners with the President and the FairSquare organization to drive market expansion for Working Capital (WC) and Sales-Based Financing (SBF) products. The VP will lead strategy, relationships, and revenue growth in established and emerging markets, building high-value partnerships, new referral channels, and closing complex, high-margin transactions. Responsibilities
Design and execute a business development strategy for SBF and WC products from market analysis through revenue execution to assure high volume growth. Track, analyze, and report KPIs and market intelligence to inform ongoing strategy. Source, negotiate, and close new business opportunities with direct clients, referral partners, brokers, and strategic alliances. Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with key decision-makers in target industries. Represent Finova at industry conferences, networking events, and trade shows to build brand recognition and credibility. Drive pipeline creation and conversion through outbound prospecting, in-person networking, and targeted marketing initiatives. Onboard and manage high-performing referral and broker relationships to increase deal flow. Partner with Risk, Underwriting, and Operations to ensure seamless client onboarding and fast funding cycles. Collaborate with marketing to design and launch lead-generation campaigns that convert into funded transactions. Establish a repeatable, scalable business development playbook for the sales team. Mentor and coach team members on relationship selling, negotiation, and closing techniques. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
10+ years of business development and sales leadership in financial services, preferably SBF, WC, or commercial lending. Proven track record of building high-revenue pipelines and closing large, complex transactions. Established network of brokers, referral partners, and industry connections in Florida and the Southeast. Deep knowledge of SBF/WC product structures, underwriting requirements, and market trends. Exceptional negotiation, relationship-building, and closing skills. Experience managing high-performance, metrics-driven sales teams. Strong financial acumen and ability to craft win-win deal structures. Proficiency in CRM and sales management platforms (Salesforce experience strongly preferred). Travel
