The Role
We are seeking a hands-on Data Architect with deep expertise in Databricks and enterprise-scale data environments. This person will lead the design and implementation of modern data architectures in our client's Azure ecosystem, ensuring the platform is optimized for performance, discoverability, and long-term scalability.
You will be both a strategist and a builder-able to design end-to-end architectures while also rolling up your sleeves as a Databricks power user. Responsibilities
- Architect and implement modern data platforms leveraging Azure + Databricks at scale - Define standards for data ingestion, transformation, and governance across global platforms - Optimize Databricks environments for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency - Partner with engineers to build high-quality data pipelines and reusable frameworks - Ensure strong metadata management, cataloging, and discoverability practices - Provide guidance on data governance, quality, and compliance in a multi-geography environment - Mentor teams, perform design/code reviews, and serve as the Databricks subject matter expert - Contribute to long-term roadmaps enabling AI/ML integration on top of the data foundation Qualifications
- 8-10+ years of experience in data engineering and architecture within enterprise-scale environments - Deep, hands-on expertise in Databricks (advanced tuning, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables, notebooks, cluster optimization) - Strong background with Azure data services (Azure Synapse, Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Purview) - Proven experience building and scaling modern data architectures (Data Lakes, Data Mesh, Lakehouse patterns) - Solid foundation in data governance, metadata management, and security frameworks - Familiarity with data enablement for AI/ML (vector DBs, feature stores, pipelines) is a plus, but not required today - Strong communicator, able to collaborate across global and cross-functional teams What We're Looking For
