Estimator Civil Construction (DOT / Bridge / Highway)
Plantsville, CT (open to relo candidates) We are seeking a highly skilled Estimator with expertise in DOT projects, including bridge rehabilitation, new bridge construction, highway infrastructure, and bridge demo projects, to join a growing civil construction team. This is a full-time, onsite role based in Connecticut, with occasional travel for job site visits (12 times per month). What You'll Do Review and analyze project plans and specifications for civil infrastructure projects Perform detailed take-offs and quantity measurements for materials, labor, and equipment Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes Build comprehensive cost estimates and assist in finalizing bid proposals Collaborate with engineering staff, project managers, and senior estimators on large-scale projects Work on high-value projects averaging $6M, often lasting several years, typically one major project at a time What We're Looking For Must Have: 510 years of experience in DOT estimating, specifically with bridges, structural steel, and concrete Proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid Strong expertise in take-offs, cost analysis, and risk modeling U.S. citizenship Nice to Have: CTDOT project experience Familiarity with AutoCAD Background in structural steel fabrication or CNC estimating Security clearance (not required, but a plus) Tools & Software HCSS HeavyBid (essential) AutoCAD (preferred) Why Join Competitive salary range: $120K$150K+ (depending on experience) Discretionary raises annually based on performance Company car provided for site visits Growth opportunities within a company that is consistently expanding Collaborative, team-oriented environment where people wear many hats and support each other Culture & Perks Onsite gym, spin classes, ping pong, and even an electronic driving range Access to the owner's private race track for fun outings Benefits Healthcare: 100% covered (no co-pays, no out-of-pocket), plus dental & vision 401(k): with company match PTO: 3 weeks vacation + major holidays (closed ChristmasNew Year's) Company-sponsored wellness activities Strong emphasis on career growth and internal advancement
