Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for engineering Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms, including product engineering, media engineering, QA, personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity. Role Summary:
Join ESPN as a Senior Software Engineer to develop ESPN’s tvOS applications using Swift. This hands-on role collaborates with cross-functional teams to conceptualize and deliver world-class ESPN apps, shaping the future of ESPN’s tvOS experiences for millions of sports fans. What You Will Do
Technical Leadership:
Manage multiple project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables; participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of software solutions.
Architectural Design:
Architect and implement reusable solutions across Disney apps to ensure scalability and efficiency.
Team Collaboration:
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features, enhancing user experience.
Mentorship and Guidance:
Mentor other engineers and drive technical excellence.
Role Location
This is a Hybrid role requiring 4 days onsite (Monday-Thursday) in one of the following office locations: Glendale, CA Santa Monica, CA New York, NY Seattle, WA San Francisco, CA Required Qualifications / Experience / Skills
5+ years hands-on professional experience with iOS/tvOS development Strong understanding of OO and Swift design patterns and concepts A sound understanding of HTTP and REST-style web services Demonstrated ability to design and build dynamic multi-threaded iOS/tvOS apps Solid understanding of iOS app development life cycle including Apple App Store compliance policies and submissions requirements Experience with Apple frameworks such as UIKit, AVFoundation, Security, and StoreKit Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies Excellent verbal and written communication skills; can effectively articulate complex ideas and influence others Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code for architectural improvements, user-facing features, and defect fixes Work with minimal technical supervision Preferred Qualifications
Experience with tvOS-specific functionality including the Focus Engine, SIRI Remote, and Top Shelf Experience on a consumer app currently in the marketplace Experience building video-based applications with knowledge of HLS and Fairplay DRM Ability to collaborate in a small team and in the larger engineering organization Experience with: Swift or Objective-C SwiftUI or UIKit Combine Async/Await AVPlayer Required Education
BS in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent Salary range information: The hiring range for this position varies by location (Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, New York City). The base pay offered will consider internal equity and geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
