Join the Reno Engineering Team as an Engineering Technician where you will create substation design packages for the electric utility industry. You will be responsible for providing technical support to the engineering staff producing design packages and associated project work. Responsibilities: Supporting all quality and project management goals Assisting and supporting scope and project proposals Meeting all project deadlines and supporting the processes and procedures to meet deadlines Mentoring and training less experienced colleagues Building and maintaining effective client relationships Maintaining up-to-date technical skills related to the design of protection and control systems for the electric utility power grid through on-the-job work and formal training Developing drawings and assisting in the preparation of design packages using CAD/drafting skills; drawings include: Functional diagrams Logic diagram AC power elementary DC schematics Control house plan views Wiring diagrams Control panel elevations Preparing additional support documentation for the construction and maintenance of protection and control systems being designed Consistently following established design standards and CAD drafting standards while assuring quality, accuracy, and completeness Identifying process improvement ideas and commuting ideas through appropriate management channels Compiling bills of material Qualifications: Education: AS Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field, or 2 years of formal post-high school specialized trade (technical school or certifications) Experience: Ideal candidates will have 2-5 years design experience with experience directly related to working with electricity, preferably in the utility sector. Specialized Knowledge, Certifications, and Licenses: Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation is a plus.
