Inside Higher Ed Summary: The Director of Philanthropy Operations is responsible for the creation, management, and oversight of the integrated support system that enables the philanthropic front-line to effectively seek financial support for East Texas A&M University. This role oversees Philanthropy Operations, Research, Gift Accounting, and Prospect Strategy, serving as the primary liaison for gift and donor records, gift accounting, and implementing an institution-wide comprehensive donor relations and stewardship program. The Director will ensure accuracy and integrity of Raisers Edge the database that tracks contributions and contains alumni, donor, and prospect information, including data input/output, technology management, and end-user services and support for the Philanthropy team and university initiatives. The role informs future strategy through analysis and modeling and develops policies related to the database, licensing/tools, and reporting.

Strategic Keep abreast of industry trends and effectively utilize data to evaluate and interpret constituent needs and behaviors to recommend new tools, processes, services, or methods to engage constituents. Develop and maintain a technology plan to ensure the Philanthropy & Engagement team has effective technological resources. Forecasting Analytics : Ensure the tracking of important key performance indicators related to donor engagement and team effectiveness. Forecast return on investment for appeals and programs based on internal and external benchmarks. Prospect Development Responsible for processes that identify, research, and analyze prospects for major gift cultivation and solicitation. Consult with development officers and campus executives to identify and qualify major donor prospects who have the propensity and capacity to support key initiatives and campaigns. Plan and manage creative strategies to identify sources of major gifts ($25,000+) using research techniques to ensure prospects meet fundraising goals. Prospect Management Oversee the process for identifying prospective donors and assist development directors in managing relationships by optimizing portfolios and supporting moves management to keep prospects moving through the pipeline. Provide dashboards to track progress of development officers and team. Gift Acceptance and Processing Ensure policies support the solicitation of all gift types, including securities, real/personal property, cash, matching gifts, bequests, and other planned gifts. Champion gift processing and coding to ensure timely receipting. Oversee creation and implementation of a campus-wide philanthropic naming opportunity catalog. Donor Relations Create and drive donor stewardship programs and oversee materials to educate, cultivate, engage, and recognize donors at all levels. Oversee processes that ensure donor wishes are upheld for philanthropic restricted funds. Business Process Improvement Utilize Raisers Edge functionality to instill discipline in business processes (e.g., moves management). Develop and improve processes to manage data requests with a view toward automation and improved responsiveness. Create a data integrity and management strategy to improve data quality and implement metrics. Governance Develop and enforce policies to ensure database integrity. Develop and manage audit processes and exception reporting for data integrity. Build relationships with university data holders for strategic data use; manage data access controls and ensure compliance with IRS regulations, CASE guidelines, and university policies. Functional Manage the Universitys users of Raisers Edge; provide training; enforce best practices; solve problems through data and technology; act as liaison to vendors and technology services. Serve as the subject matter expert on software tool functionality and integration; use workflow tools to streamline data management; provide first point of contact for staff questions. Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelors Degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience/Knowledge/Skills: Six (6) years of related data collection and analysis experience; strong Excel skills; experience with Microsoft applications; excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities; customer service orientation and teamwork; technical and business acumen. Ability: Multitask, organize and prioritize work; be proactive; translate end-user needs into queries/reports; work with development and alumni officers to fulfill requests. Licensing/Certifications: None Physical Requirements: None Other Requirements: None Preferred Education / Skills / Experience Degree in business analytics, computer science, or relevant analytics certifications; experience with integration and development of applications; experience in Prospect Research/Management; higher-education fundraising experience; experience with Raisers Edge, NXT, Banner, and Web Focus reports. Supervision Of Others Direct supervision of the Philanthropy Operations team, including the Funds Manager, Manager of Gift Processing, Assistant Director of Stewardship, and two graduate assistants. Student workers may assist on an ad-hoc basis. This position would be possible for remote work.
