Exempt Responsibilities

Oversees department operations as assigned. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of departments, including labor allocation, job responsibilities, inventory management, merchandising, product knowledge, and financial goals. Supervises and mentors Department Managers as assigned. Communicates expectations and holds accountable for meeting standards through ongoing feedback, training, and coaching. Understands and utilizes reports and data to aid in making sound business decisions, including data on financials, inventory, HRIS, SMG, out-of-stocks, price file audits, food, and work safety performance. Ensures effective communication systems are established and maintained. Oversees effective scheduling and labor allocation to meet business needs and budget. Holds Department Managers and other staff accountable for following policies and procedures. Addresses operational issues promptly and seeks resolution. Ensures that all store committees, including food and work safety, conduct regular meetings with adequate department representation. Promotes a collaborative team environment through recognition, leading by example, and working alongside staff. Fosters open communication throughout the store. Evaluates staff performance and prepares and delivers corrective actions promptly, with appropriate documentation and HR involvement as needed. Prepares and delivers performance reviews for Department Managers in a timely manner and in line with company wage guidelines. Plans for and participates in department, store, and company meetings. Assists store and department management teams with interviewing and hiring qualified candidates. Demonstrates understanding of sales, labor, margin, expense, and contribution goals; collaborates on plans when store or department results do not meet expectations; trains and coaches Department Managers to develop financial knowledge. Ensures adherence to invoice, credit, and transfer procedures; coaches managers to maintain accurate inventory and backstock. Plans for and participates in inventories; ensures department managers follow inventory procedures and meet deadlines. Maintains high standards for ordering, receiving, rotation, product handling, and production practices to minimize waste; handles damaged and spoiled products per policy. Leverages resources and labor to maximize efficiency without compromising quality and service standards. Maintains exceptional customer service by modeling, coaching, recognizing achievements, and seeking customer feedback to improve the shopping experience. Maintains store conditions (appearance, cleanliness, product availability, signage, staffing, and service levels) and handles escalated customer service situations. Collaborates with Department Managers and merchandising teams to develop and execute plans; holds Managers accountable for merchandising standards and uses guidelines and programs to promote peak items and seasonal products. Performs regular store walks to maintain merchandising and cleanliness standards and coaches Managers accordingly. Keeps current with trends in the industry and balances administrative tasks with on-floor presence. Performs other tasks as assigned.
