Nuclear Medicine Technologist
The technologist filling this position will be required to work at three locations, TJUH Nuclear Medicine, Methodist Nuclear Medicine, and Honickman PET/CT. This position includes on call coverage for both TJUH & Methodist Nuclear Medicine Departments, approximately one week every eight weeks and one holiday. Day shift; varying start and end times typically eight hour shifts. Under the direction of a radiologist, the PET/Nuc Med Technologist performs Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT procedures in accordance with approved protocols and NRC/PA DEP standards. Responsible for the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, and the operation of all nuclear medicine and PET imaging equipment. The technologist will: Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including routine nuclear medicine studies, nuclear cardiology and PET/CT oncology, neurology and cardiology procedures. Operate nuclear medicine and PET/CT equipment using proper techniques and patient positioning to produce high quality images. Prepare, measure, administer, and record radioactive materials according to departmental policies and NRC and state regulations. Demonstrate competency in IV placement and securement, and extravasation handling. Conduct quality control testing on all nuclear medicine equipment. Evaluate the performance of equipment according to the manufacturer's guidelines and specifications and call service when needed. Document receipt, storage, administration, and disposal of all radioactive materials in computer information system. Stores and maintains materials according to radiation safety guidelines, and disposes of materials after they have decayed to a level considered to be environmentally safe. Utilize effective radiation safety practices to minimize radiation exposure to patients and personnel. Maintain patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from newborn to elderly. Maintain technical competency through continued education as required for certifications and licenses. Perform other duties as assigned.
