Scope of Role: Prepare the operating room, including the sterile field, surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions

Pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon during surgery

Manage surgical equipment and maintain the sterile field

Perform counts of sponges and supplies to prevent retained surgical items

Follow CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program standards and NBSTSA CST examination protocols
