The Social Media/Visibility Coordinator will oversee and grow the U- EXPLORE and Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourisms Instagram presence. This role is responsible for curating and posting high-quality visual content, implementing a growth strategy aligned with Instagram best practices, and fostering engagement with current and prospective students. This position will also be required to hang posters on campus. The Coordinator will have access to U-EXPLOREs SmugMug library (https://nrluutah.smugmug.com/), which contains curated photography and a bit of short-form video clips from U- EXPLORE courses. Responsibilities Content Strategy & Growth Develop and implement a strategy to increase Instagram followers, reach, and engagement. Apply Instagram best practices including consistent posting, use of relevant hashtags, tagging partners, and active audience engagement. Incorporate U-EXPLOREs brand voice: adventurous, inclusive, and educational. Posting & Scheduling Feed Posts (Photos/Carousels): 23 per week, featuring high-quality images from SmugMug with engaging captions tied to program themes (adventure, leadership, public lands, student experience). Stories: 35 per week, with a focus on timely updates, behind-the-scenes glimpses, interactive polls or Q&As, and user-generated content (resharing tagged student posts). Reels: 12 per week, built from short video clips in SmugMug, highlighting outdoor recreation skills, course trips, and dynamic student moments. Maintain a monthly content calendar to balance themes and ensure consistent coverage. Asset Management: Curate and edit content directly from SmugMug, using both photos and short videos provided through the U- EXPLORE Photo Program. Format visuals to meet Instagrams standards: vertical orientation for reels/stories, high-resolution square or portrait crops for posts. Select content that emphasizes diversity of students, landscapes, and activities. Engagement & Community Building Respond to comments and direct messages promptly and professionally. Tag and engage with University of Utah accounts, outdoor industry partners, and student organizations. Track Instagram analytics (reach, impressions, engagement rate) and prepare a monthly report to guide growth strategy. Minimum Qualifications Preferences Strong familiarity with Instagram, including current best practices for reels, stories, and engagement strategies. Experience managing social media accounts for a brand, organization, or student group. Basic photo and video editing skills for social media formats. Excellent writing skills for crafting compelling captions and calls to action. Passion for outdoor recreation, education, and environmental awareness is strongly preferred.
