Houston, TX Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to support transmission and distribution projects with a focus on self-perform substation construction. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in cost estimating, scheduling, and constructability for large-scale utility and infrastructure projects. This role requires deep technical knowledge of substation construction, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with project management, engineering, and field teams to deliver accurate and competitive estimates. Key Responsibilities Lead the development of detailed cost estimates for self-perform substation projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services. Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate and comprehensive estimates. Partner with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to validate scopes, schedules, and methodologies. Provide constructability reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering recommendations during the estimating process. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry cost trends, labor rates, productivity factors, and construction techniques. Assist in developing and maintaining estimating databases, tools, and best practices. Support bid strategy development, client proposals, and presentations as needed. Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators and other team members. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered. 7+ years of experience in estimating, with a strong focus on transmission and distribution or substation projects. Proven ability to develop detailed self-perform estimates for complex electrical infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing in substation builds. Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or similar) is a plus. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
