Staff Frontend Engineer
San Francisco (Hybrid, 3 days in-person) Salary: $200k-$300k | Equity: 0.3%-0.6% About the Role
We're looking for a
Staff Frontend Engineer (7+ years of experience, ideally 8+)
to help architect, build, and scale the core systems of our platform. You'll work directly with the founding team to develop complex, UI-heavy applications, shape product direction, and set the engineering culture for our growing San Francisco team.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves quickly with beta-stage products, and has a deep passion for frontend performance, design tools, and real-time collaboration experiences. What You'll Do Architect & Build:
Design and develop complex, production-grade front-end systems in
React + TypeScript . Collaborate Closely:
Work with design-first founders and customers to rapidly prototype and refine solutions. Optimize & Scale:
Drive frontend performance, scalability, and real-time collaboration capabilities. Integrate:
Build and maintain integrations with developer tools, design platforms, and APIs (REST/GraphQL). Lead by Example:
Take high ownership in setting the technical foundation and engineering culture for the SF team. Must-Have Experience 7+ years of frontend engineering
experience (staff-level preferred; exceptional candidates with fewer years considered). Strong
React + TypeScript
expertise. Experience with
state management
(Recoil, Zustand, Jotai, Redux w/ middleware). Familiarity with
real-time collaboration tools
(Yjs, CRDTs, WebSocket/Socket.io). Proven ability in
performance optimization
(e.g., virtualization, React-Virtualized/TanStack Virtual, WebAssembly). Exposure to
backend fundamentals
(Node.js, REST, GraphQL). Background building
complex UI-heavy web applications . Nice-to-Have Skills Experience with
SVG/canvas rendering
(React-Konva, React-Flow, React Three, D3.js). Knowledge of
WebRTC
for peer-to-peer collaboration. DevOps familiarity (Docker, CI/CD). Experience building
Figma-like apps, design tools, or collaborative editors . Contributions to
open-source React or frontend libraries . What We're Looking For Hybrid mindset:

South Park, SF office . High ownership:
