Collaboration Engineer (UC / MS Teams / Telephony) Location: NY/NJ Preferred (Hybrid: 23 days onsite per week, flexibility) Midtown NYC or Iselin, NJ Contract: Long-Term Overview We are seeking a skilled Microsoft Teams Voice & Video Engineer to design, implement, configure, and troubleshoot enterprise-grade collaboration solutions. This role will focus on Teams telephony, meetings, and video integration, ensuring seamless communication across voice, video, and collaboration platforms. Responsibilities Design, deploy, and manage Microsoft Teams telephony solutions, including Direct Routing, Operator Connect, Calling Plans, E911, voicemail, and SBC integrations (AudioCodes, Ribbon, Cisco, etc.). Implement and support Teams video conferencing and collaboration solutions, including Teams Rooms, meeting devices, and video interoperability. Configure and optimize voice routing, call flows, auto attendants, call queues, and dial plans. Troubleshoot complex Teams voice/video issues, leveraging Call Analytics, Call Quality Dashboard (CQD), Teams Admin Center, and PowerShell. Partner with networking and security teams to ensure QoS, bandwidth optimization, and compliance (HIPAA, PCI, SOX, etc.). Integrate Teams with other Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive) and third-party UC platforms. Establish governance, security, and lifecycle policies for Teams meetings, recordings, and collaboration. Create documentation, runbooks, and provide training to internal support teams. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in Microsoft Unified Communications, VoIP, or Modern Workplace engineering. Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Teams Voice, Direct Routing, Operator Connect, SBCs, and PSTN integration. Experience with Teams Rooms systems, meeting devices, and video conferencing hardware (Poly, Logitech, Crestron, Cisco, etc.). Strong background in VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, QoS) and network troubleshooting. Proficiency with PowerShell scripting for automation and advanced Teams configurations. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 security, compliance, and governance features. Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Teams Administrator Associate (MS-700) a Plus Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert a Plus Soft Skills Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across business and IT teams. Ability to lead technical discussions with vendors, stakeholders, and executive teams. Strong documentation, process improvement, and knowledge-sharing skills. Seniority level
