  • Experience working on a Greenfield building (concrete, structural, architectural finishing, HVAC, electrical) they might not have self-performed all those, but they were in a position of leadership for a greenfield end to end project.

Job Description:

The Construction EHS Manager will be acting as a Construction Technical Authority (CTA) and is responsible for developing and executing strategies to prevent and manage construction-related risks. This includes ensuring full compliance with applicable standards and aligning with the most stringent requirements between those standards and local legislation.

  • Risk Management Systems:
  • Ensure robust systems and processes are in place to identify, assess, and control construction risks, including:
  • Preconstruction EHS planning
  • Oversight of construction EHS delivery
  • Coordination with the host site during construction
  • Preconstruction Planning & Strategy
  • Lead preconstruction EHS planning efforts
  • Contribute to contracting and procurement strategies
  • Facilitate constructability reviews at regular intervals
  • Provide input to the project execution strategy
  • Support the definition of permitting and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with the host site EHS team to define:
  • Responsibility boundaries
  • Project boundaries
  • Emergency response protocols
  • Permitting strategies
  • Site Integration & Safety Systems
  • Establish processes for transferring responsibility and implementing safe systems of work within a site-in-a-site model
  • Initiate preconstruction EHS coordination with the design team to inform contractor selection
  • Draft the preliminary construction safety plan for use in contractor selection
  • Approve contractors based on construction EHS prequalification criteria
  • Construction EHS Delivery Assurance
  • Approve the contractor’s construction safety plan before work begins
  • Ensure the safety schedule and performance noticeboard are in place prior to site activity
  • Monitor contractor performance through:
  • Biweekly assurance meetings
  • Weekly safety schedule reviews
  • Site inspections and system audits
  • Evaluation of the contractor’s monitoring and auditing plan
  • Regular reviews of the safety plan
  • Agreement on benchmarking strategies
  • Coordination with the Host Site
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the host site to manage interfaces and clarify EHS responsibilities
  • Ensure a system is in place for transferring care, custody, and control of completed assets back to the host site
