In line with this mission, BXDA seeks an experienced and enthusiastic IT Service Specialist 2 who will:


  1. Provide second-level (L2) support for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
  2. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues for end-users.
  3. Collaborate with network, server, and security teams to resolve IT infrastructure issues.
  4. Install and configure workstations and VoIP phones for new users and relocations.
  5. Identify and mitigate security threats, including malware and phishing.
  6. Install and maintain in-house applications, such as case management systems.
  7. Communicate effectively with end-users to address IT needs.
  8. Manage asset inventory and document IT equipment.
  9. Assist with imaging and deployment of desktops/laptops using Ivanti.
  10. Install, configure, and update Windows 11 OS, applications, and security patches.
  11. Log, track, and document issues using the ticketing system.
  12. Troubleshoot VPN, remote desktop, and cloud services like M365.
  13. Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to escalate and resolve issues.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Baccalaureate degree and two years of full-time experience in mainframe, mid-range, LAN/WAN environments, or desktop support; or
2. Associate degree or 60 credits plus three years of relevant full-time experience; or
3. High school diploma or equivalent plus four years of relevant full-time experience; or
4. Equivalent education and/or experience, with at least a high school diploma and two years of relevant experience.


Preferred Skills

  • Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field; relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CompTIA A+) are advantageous.
  • Experience in application support roles, especially at levels 2 or 3.
  • Knowledge of software development, rollout, and data integration.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with vendors and internal teams to escalate issues.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.

Residency Requirement

NYC residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. Certain employees with two years of continuous city service may reside in neighboring counties. Discuss residency requirements at the interview stage.
