We are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to play a pivotal role in delivering our innovative hair braiding robot to market as we near the end of R&D. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of hair styling technology, launch a new product suite, mentor junior engineers and have a significant impact on our fast-growing mission-driven startup. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic founding team and collaborate across Mechanical Engineering, Design, and Hardware. This role reports to the CTO. You have

10+ years experience with CAD (Solidworks preferred). GD&T a plus Demonstrated design intelligence, mechanical intuition, creative problem solving, and strong attention to detail Created and tested proof-of-concept models and prototypes in the R&D stage Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) & mass manufacturing methods (injection molding, CNC etc.) Experience with gear design and linkages, and moving mechanisms Rapid prototyping and manufacturing methods (3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting) Experience working with Industrial Design to incorporate user needs, ergonomics, and aesthetics Excellent communication skills, an ability to clearly convey design ideas and brainstorm Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product, sales, and creative teams Adaptable and inventive, you're able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and problem solve with a no-task-is-too-small attitude Bonus if you have

Experience with consumer electronics, robotics, or hair styling tools, startup experience a plus Technical expertise with mechatronics components such as sensors, motors, electromagnets Experience with design optimization using FEA / CFD simulation You will

Lead development of complex technology and product sub-assemblies Own 3D CAD and design requirements of mechanical systems through product development and launch Take an active role in defining design specifications for a given concept Use hand calculations, computer simulation, or lab-based testing to validate designs through the development process Liaise and collaborate with suppliers to develop innovative, scaleable products Challenge and develop Halo Braid's engineering practices to continuously improve design quality Take an active, hands-on role to ensure that all engineering problems are resolved thoroughly Oversee and mentor the technical work of other engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices and engineering standards Location
