Parks And Recreation Part-Time Employee
The Town of Maiden is seeking a Parks and Recreation part-time employee to assist the Recreation Programmer and Director with programs and activities. The work is performed under regular supervision along with independent work. Skill sets include youth and adult recreation, sports scorekeeping, outdoors recreation, data entry, registration collections, basic fee counting, reporting, special events, and customer service. Work includes varying shifts and hours with nights, weekends, and special events. Performed in many types of weather conditions. Duties
Assists with all aspects of programs from planning and facilitating activities to setup and breakdown with youth and adults. Opens and closes athletic facilities and parks for programs and activities with general use and summer camp. Performs basic cleanup inside athletic facilities, community room, and parks. Assists with athletic and activity equipment maintenance and inventory. Scorekeeping for a variety of athletics including basketball, baseball, football, soccer, softball, and volleyball. Assists recreation centers with operations. Interacts with public, greets, answers questions, and provides excellent customer service to patrons and participants. Maintains daily communication with the supervisor and attends staff meetings. Typical Qualifications
General knowledge of municipal recreation and administration. Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft, recreation programs, and Internet. Ability to plan, implement, and facilitate well-rounded recreational and athletic programs. Ability to assist with as well as organize and coordinate the work of a wide variety of volunteers, seasonal, and temporary workers. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with volunteers and to promote and maintain high morale and enthusiasm. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms. General knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in the area of assigned work. General knowledge of work hazards and applicable safety precautions. Some knowledge of equipment maintenance and its operation. Ability to work independently. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with coworkers and the general public. Indoors and outdoors. May encounter temperatures above 90 degrees and below 40 degrees. Exposure to chemicals and fumes, smoke and dust, wet and damp areas.
