The Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute cares for patients with a variety of heart, vascular and thoracic diseases and provides the highest level of patient care, innovative treatments and a welcoming environment to all. J71, J72, and J73 are cardiovascular step down telemetry monitored units. The three units make up a total of 73 beds: J71-25 beds; J72-24 beds; and J73-24 beds. These fast paced nursing units provide nursing care to a select medical cardiac patient population, which includes: Myocardial infarction Post cardiac intervention Chronic heart failure Dysrhythmia management Pulmonary hypertension This Health Unit Coordinator will cover all J71, J72 and J73 Cardiology Stepdown Units on the Night shift. A caregiver in this position works nights, 11:00 pm7:30 am. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients. Respond to patient call lights and make rounds. Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources. Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care. Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High school diploma or GED 1 year of experience in a customer service-related role Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: College degree Microsoft Office experience Physical Requirements: Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision. Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
