The City Of Virginia Beach Department Of Public Utilities has an exciting opportunity in our Business Division's Line Fees workgroup. The Public Utilities Business Division services over 135,000 accounts representing a population of more than 450,000 Virginia Beach citizens. The Line Fees workgroup is specifically responsible for calculating and collecting water and sewer connections fees and other utility related fees when properties initially connect to the City's water and/or sewer systems. Members of this workgroup work closely with engineers, developers, builders, contractors, home/business owners, as well as other City agencies to determine appropriate fees. The position may be classified as a Utility Account Representative I or Utility Account Representative II depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Utility Account Representative I: $40,518.40 - $62,795.20 Utility Account Representative II: $42,536.00 - $65,936.00 The selected individual will be part of a team committed to providing friendly and courteous customer service in a professional manner while routinely communicating with the public other City agencies by phone, email, and in person. The main job duties for this position include the following: Reviewing building and construction plans to determine water and sewer connection fees Calculating and collecting water and sewer connection fees associated with new construction, renovations, and building additions for residential, commercial, and multi-family properties Interacting with residents, developers, builders, contractors, and other members of the public by phone, email, and in-person to provide information, address concerns, and solve problems Coordinating service requests with field personnel Sending correspondence to customers Using a variety of computer applications to initiate new accounts and perform research Preparing water meter adequacy reviews Conducting thorough research for historical water and sewer connection fees Assisting homeowners with the requirements to split water and/or sewer services for duplex properties Processing homeowner requests for Ultra Low-Flush Rebate Administering City-Wide Program interviews for eligibility of homeowners for reduction of water and/or sewer connection fees We are looking for someone who is: Detail-oriented and able to perform work with a high degree of accuracy Analytical Organized and able to work independently and manage deadlines Able to follow policies and procedures Able to learn and recall a variety of procedures to carry out daily tasks Able to maintain confidentiality in handling customer issues Able to work with the public in a professional and diplomatic manner while consistently providing exceptional customer service Able to communicate well, both orally and in writing Self-motivated and has a desire to excel
