The posted compensation range of $24.00 - $24.00/hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law. As our Nutrition Assistant, you will directly interact with patients and visitors every day. You will personally ensure all dining areas are safely sanitized well-stocked and food is appropriately prepared. You understand most guests at our facility are dining with us for a reason and take great pride in giving them one less thing to worry about. You will participate in and support all aspects of healthcare food service operations. Working with facility staff to provide optimal nutritional care and demonstrate excellent customer service to patients, guests, and staff. Follows healthcare food service industry standards, regulations, guidelines, and procedures including monitoring and maintaining food temperatures during cooking, holding, and storage processes. Avoids cross contamination of foods and adheres to personal hygiene requirements. Maintains proper labeling of food products and ensures storage of food equipment and machinery per regulations and facility guidelines. Prepares and serves food within guidelines of menu and dietary requirements using required kitchen utensils and equipment. Maintains knowledge of recipe ingredients to respond to food allergy questions or requests. Follows organizational standards and guidelines for a high quality patient and customer experience. Ensures proper meal portioning and an aesthetically pleasing presentation. May be responsible for one or more of the following: Cashiering Serving in the retail area Assembling, delivering, and retrieving patient trays Performing cold food prep Performing utility assignments (e.g. dish washing, washing pots & pans, maintaining equipment) Performing catering functions and/or delivering/picking up catered food Supporting inventory maintenance duties Supports/performs all department tasks as needed including general cleaning of equipment and work areas (e.g. cleaning the tray line, equipment, coolers, office area, and emptying trash cans, etc.) Performing other duties as assigned by leader High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. This position is represented by SEIU United Healthcare Workers. Bakersfield Memorial Hospital includes 385 general acute beds, 48 licensed critical care beds, 13 state-of-the-art surgical suites, and a full-service Emergency Department with an Accredited Chest Pain Center and Nationally Certified Stroke Center. In addition, we offer a beautiful Family Care and Birthing Center, the Lauren Small Children's Center including the area's only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Family Care Center, a Level II NICU, the Sarvanand Heart, and Brain Center with Kern County's first Bi-Plane Interventional Suite, the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbarics, and many more services.
