Employees must have a flexible schedule to work both opening at 5:30am - 2pm and also work closing shifts until 9am- 5:30pm. Purpose of the Position The Front Office Medical Assistant (MA) is an integral part of the patient care team. Under the direction of the Business Office Manager, the Front Office Medical Assistant performs general clerical and administrative duties as directed. We are seeking a motivated and dependable MA to be a positive first impression for patients, visitors and to maintain strong relations with surgeons' offices. Must be detail-oriented, organized, a skilled problem solver, a team player, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Primary Functions: Answer telephones, transfer calls, and take detailed messages. Opening and closing procedures of facility, based on assigned shift. Accurately book, cancel and reschedule surgical procedures within our EMR (Amkai). Verify eligibility and benefits, document co-pays, gather pre-certifications/authorizations. Build, audit and close paper and electronic charts prior to and after surgery. Provide proper pre-operative instructions and arrival times to patients. Register patients promptly and safely by confirming accurate demographic and surgical information. Ensure timely receipt of operative reports, pathology reports and obtain physician signatures. Willingly perform other duties as directed by Business Office Manager. Qualifications: High school graduate. Medical Assistant certification (preferred). Minimum one (1) year receptionist experience in a healthcare facility, experience in ambulatory surgery center a plus. Must be dependable and punctual. Must be organized and have ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner. Must be able to work under pressure and perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Comprehension of medical terminology. Experience using scheduling software
experience with an EMR. Excellent communication skills.
